Life and Shit [Oct. 2nd, 2010|10:09 am]

Things are really going pretty well for me these days. Hence the lack of updates: I forget that I should give news as well as receive it through this medium.
Last week I surprised Nathan by dropping in to hang out with him for his birthday week, which was fun. I learned several new boardgames, and seemed to have at least temporarily carried some of the proficiency gained in that week forward, because I smashed face last night at board games (it helped that one of the games was Formula De, which I was only two of the six players had played before).

Have I even mentioned that I have a board gaming group? As it turns out, my best friend from High school moved to the cities several years ago when he got a job for Fantasy Flight Games. He reconnected through Facebook, and he runs a board game night with some of his coworkers and other friends on his free Friday nights. It's a lot of fun, and there's usually food and/or treats as well.

In other news, I don't know if I've said this publicly before, but Zee and I are dating again. Yes, it's complicated. But it also is making me really happy, and I definitely think it was the right decision.

Work is up and down. There's some shakeup going on right now, nothing that directly effects me directly, but that I still sort of have to deal with. The best thing about it is that it's still interesting, there's still a lot I can do to get better, and that it gives me these lovely long weekends.

Living with Genghis is working out really well. I think we want similar balances of social and private time/space, and also we both function at about the same level of "bachelor mess". Or at least he tolerates my dirty pans, which I certainly appreciate.

THe only gray cloud for me right now is my poor car. No new problems, but I'm seriously concerned that it won't make it through the winter. My mother is buying a "new" car (we always buy used), and I might have to seriously consider doing the same, if I can afford it.

But still, things are going great, and probably will until I say otherwise.

Wait - you're dating my girlfriend? Man, I completely missed that. I guess this means we have to fight now.

*sob* I only went to him because you never listen to me! I was only trying to make you jealous! please don't hurt him!

...in a separate connection, I mentioned to BK recently that I was glad he was unlikely to hit me on the head with a hammer. I'm pretty lucky.

Re: Misleading Title

Sorry I didn't mention you. I am glad that you exist again,, and hey, we can now see each other from time to time, as I will reliably be in your area.

Re: Misleading Title

No worries -- no need to mention me. I was just saying that your title is a little off. haha

I'll keep my fingers crossed for your car making it through the winter.

If you have to buy a new used car, I recommend an early 2000s Chevy Prizm or Toyota Corolla if you can find one. They seem to have aged really well, if my mom's car (even after being abused by both me and my little brother learning to drive) is any indication.
