A second to remember [Apr. 12th, 2005|01:27 pm]
I want to set this down, because it was so awesome. I was walking back to Wood from Pearsons, through the rain. As a reached the foot of the stairs to Emerson street, a man coming the other way asks me "Like Beloit?" After being vocally confused, he explains that he's the father of a perspective student trying to decide about Beloit. Thus we beign a ten minute discussion, in the rain, about Beloit, how much I love it, how I came to be here, etc. It was absolutely wonderful, something that I've always dreamed would happen to me. And I think I helped give him a much more positive take on the college: apparently some of the hosts they had were very negative.
I hope this is something I can keep with me.

I think you can. I absolutely cherish my time at Beloit. I was ready to leave when I did -- I think people *should* leave, because college is by defination a temporary stop in your life.

But I wouldn't trade my time there for anything, and I look back on it all, even the bad parts, with a great deal of fondness. The memories will keep. Be sure to take lots of pictures -- that's the only thing I regret.

And it's a small world -- I went to France on a student trip, met an American friend of one of the students, who had come to visit. She grew up in Beloit, took piano lessons with Ian Ni, and took classes at the college her senior year in high school.
