What a weekend

I decided some while ago to take this weekend to go down and visit (at least some of) the Madison people. Along the way it was revealed to me that lerite was planning a Beloit trip, so I joined her on that as well, with some hesitancy. I didn't tell anyone in Beloit that I was coming because I knew that I really wouldn't have time to do anything besides walk around and see things.

Visiting people was fun, and apologies to the few I missed. Of special note was Pearsons, where the ballroom dance had drawn basically all of the Phi Psis I would have wanted to see, as well as the other regulars. I will visit again sometime, but probably not too soon.

I'm rather happy to say that I don't really miss Beloit. Almost everything had a very different feel, aided by the rampant contruction actually altering the landscape. Sure, my life here isn't perfect by any means, but it is definitely more constructive for me personally than any more time spent in the Beloit environment (as a student).

Sunday involved me playing a bit of the latest part of the GTA franchise at lerite's, and then visiting angrybunyman and lady_fox. I got to see their new place, which is very nice, albeit their neighborhood demographic isn't exactly what they had in mind.

I was also glad to see that they were both doing well, although abmann's denial about his art should be headed off sometime soon. :P

Dinner with them was in the hippie area of Madison. Nice place, with good pizza, albeit a bit thin for my taste. After that, there was a visit to a huge Woodman's, and then back to their place for ice cream and V for Vendetta commentary. As I can relate, the commentary was completely comprehensible to someoe who hadn't seen the movie, mostly talking about the various aspects of political life portrayed in the film.

After that, it was a quick trip to lerite's parents' house(peojkl's house), where there was peach pie and sociological shop talk. I was rather intellectually intimidated by it. I also got my hands on a copy of the NYTimes magazine, which has a fascinating article on elephants that I recommend.

Monday was more hanging around lerite's place, and eventually going home. The drive has fortunately uneventful (I didn't even see any speeding traps on I-94), and I arrived home in time to grab a quick nap, shower and food before heading to work.

Which brings us up to now.

(no subject)

I got a call from the security company I work for. Apparently tomorrow is training day, which means I'm in a room all day doing videos and whatnot. It starts at 8 AM. I get off work at the site at 7 AM.

I hope consciousness is not required for training. It certainly isn't for fingerprinting.

Edit: I got the call inside the grocery store, where not only is my reception shitty but the damn fan was so loud that I could barely hear the woman on the other end. As such, I wasn't really able to explain my situation, because I have no idea whether or not she would have understood.

Also, I might be able to still work things out so I'm off tomorrow night. The person working the night after me is also from the security company, and maybe he'll consent to a swtich (I have Thursday and Friday nights off.)
